Whatz This Cat Wine Stuff?
Hi, I'm Apollo: A 9 year old Chartreux (or at least I think I am) and a fond wine connoisseur - that is, feline wine. You see, I just didn't see any reason why humans should be the only ones able to enjoy a delicious nightcap, so I went hard at work with my human pal to develop something that not only tastes great, but is non-toxic and made from whole ingredients.
The Pinot Meow is a blend of all natural organic catnip grown in the U.S. and brewed with fresh mountain water and 100% whole organic beets, it's a satisfying blend for cats of all ages. But why these ingredients and are they harmful to cats? Well let's dive into that below.
Why Made from Catnip? For that Mellow Laid Back Night
Catnip is a member of the mint family, which has about 250 species. The essential oil in catnip, nepetalactone, has a powerful effect on cats who are sensitive to it (note that not all are sensitive to it), turning even the most lazy of cats into a flipped out ball of awesome.
The most intense catnip experience is an olfactory one—your cat smells the herb and promptly goes nuts. Researchers aren't sure what the neurological explanation is, but it's thought that catnip mimics feline "happy" pheromones and stimulates the receptors in the brain that respond to those pheromones. When eaten, however, catnip seems to have the opposite effect: the cat may become very mellow and might even enjoy a nice nap on a human lap.
Why Beets? For the color, silly.
Beets are a common and excellent source of fiber in many commercial pet foods. However, we extract it for it's beautifully rich color that closely resembles that of a common human snack wine. When brewed, it actually can maintain some of the antioxidant effect of common beets and is a very healthy food for cats.
Why should you purchase The Pinot Meow?
Because it tastes great and most cats just can't resist that wonderful smell. But I won't be one to push you - take the plunge yourself, and see how irresistible this wine is. It also makes a great gift for the holidays (hint, hint).
